The larva found by Mike today at Cromwell Bottom was that of a Poplar Hawkmoth which, by the looks of it had been blown out of a nearby Crack Willow tree in the gusty wind. I'll try and rear it through and get back to you next April or so with the result.

Within 24 hours it became quite restless so I dropped in to a plant pot 2/3 filled with potting compost – it soon burrowed down to prepare to pupate.
